Post 8: Personal Opinions

Hello bloggers, how are you today? I’m half happy and half sad, why? Because today’s blog is the last one! I will miss writing blogs every Friday, but finally the semester is ending and holidays are coming up!
The topic of today is really difficult because I usually don’t like giving my opinion, but I chose education as today’s topic.
When I was very little I studied in a school called Colonial de Pirque, which in my opinion it was a really good place to grow as a person, I learned a lot about interpersonal relations, listen to my classmates and respect nature. But when I was in 5th grade I changed to another school, the exact opposite of the last one. This school was in Santiago and it was focused on results, Simce and PSU results, so it was very competitive and sometimes not in a healthy way. I think it’s important to focus on the results, but that’s not the most important thing. I felt the school was so focus on results, they made a side other important things like growing our critical thinking, teaching how take care of others and ourselves, etc. and it was reflected on my classmates attitudes.
What I mean with all these experiences is that the education system is all wrong, we can’t live in a world where results and competition between students is more important than their mental health, we should educate our children to be better persons, to take care of each other and teaching them that fail is not the end of the world. There are so many examples of kids that took their life because of the presure the education system puts on them and this can't happen anymore, we must stop it.

Please let me know you opinion about this issue in the comments.

PS: Happy holidays everybody! I hope you a great end of semester :)

Post 6: Changes To My Study Program

Hello bloggers (again), this post has come really late, as you may know I was in a field trip.
This a very difficult topic for me to write about, but I’ll do my best (😝)
I entered to forestry when I was just 18, so I didn’t know much about anything actually and I chose this career because I’d really like to understand how nature works, so, anyway, I only knew we had a lot (A LOT) of field trips.
Now that I’m inside university and I’ve seen how it works, there’s a lot of things that bothered me and I think it is very important to improve and resolve.
For example, I don’t like the messy organization of the Forestry School in our university, there are just a few subjects we know exactly when we have tests, presentations, etc., sometimes we have classes in a certain hour and the teacher in charge does not come those days or in some subjects we have like 2 different teachers (sometimes more than 2), which one of them teaches for example on Mondays and the other one on Fridays, so for the students is really hard to keep up.
Another thing I would like to change on my study program are the order of the subject. I’m on my sixth semester and just now I’m learning how to do things we’ve done before, realizing after three years that this whole time I’ve been doing it the wrong way.
The last but not least important thing I would change, is the fact that if someone fails a subject, he or she can’t take the subject until next year, so that makes really difficult to finish the career in a little amount of time (which is more money and time) and eventually cannot take other subjects for problems in their schedule. 😟😟😟
Do you agree with me? Please, let me know in the comments!

Post 7: English Language Challenges

Hello bloggers, how are you today? It’s been a long time since I haven’t posted and today’s blog is about the English language challenges.
I think it’s important to say that I haven’t had an English subject since I was in high school (almost 3 years ago), so I was really nervous to take this subject in university, but I remembered how much I liked it.
What I really liked about English at university is that we all have the moment to talk and express our ideas in this language while the teacher asks more questions, so the participation in class is really important and I think everybody learns to listen and talk in English. Also, I liked the blogs system because it is a personal instance to express what we think about different things, generally things we like, for example music, a country we’d like to visit, etc. and that motivate us to write and search words for those topics.
I think some aspects I need to improve are my pronunciation and listening, where the subject it’s been a big help for me.
Outside class, I frequently use English because I like to read American magazines, watch videos, movies and TV shows that are in English and listen to music in English, so when I want to practice my English pronunciation and listening I a do all those hobbies.
Knowing English has been a big part of my life, I have a big interest in improving my English skills for my professional life in the future and it’s one of the few things I’m really passionate about (when I was about 16 years-old, I wanted to be a translator 😝).
Finally, the English subject in university was a reminder of how much I love the language and the learning process, how fun can it be and one more reason to wait for Friday to come.
